Vocal Music opportunities at nfms
6th Grade Chorus
Do you love to sing? If you have an interest in singing and would like to be part of an ensemble, then this is the course for you! No experience is necessary—students just need a positive attitude and a desire to sing. Students will learn about basic vocal technique, music reading skills, and ensemble skills while exploring songs from a variety of different styles. Concerts are an important part of the curriculum, and students will be required to attend a concert in January and June at NFMS and will also have the opportunity to attend All-County Chorus!
Music 6
Music 6 is a semester class in which students will have the opportunity to explore music in a variety of ways; primarily through singing, learning about rhythm and solfege, and connecting music with movement. Students will learn to work together in a musical ensemble while developing an understanding of the basics of how to read and write music. Students will showcase their learning in an evening concert at the end of the semester.
7th Grade Chorus

Concerts are an important part of the curriculum, and students will be required to attend a number of after school & evening events at NFMS as well as festivals such as All-County Chorus.

Students learn about basic vocal technique, music reading skills, and ensemble skills while exploring songs from a variety of different styles. 8th Grade Musical Theater
If you are looking to find the spotlight, Music Theater is the place for you! Students in Music Theater study classical and contemporary techniques of improvisation, singing, and acting. All of these skills are then used to present a show to the community, to be produced in the spring. Students will be required to sing and act in every class period, as well as learn how to be part of a collaborative ensemble cast.
